Somewhere in your life, there’s a place where you feel most like yourself. Relaxed, connected, and completely present. That might be by the coast, in a workshop, at home, or simply doing what you love day to day.
Environmental / documentary-style portraiture goes beyond simply capturing a face. It’s about place, mood, and presence. I photograph people in the environments that matter most to them… their happy place. Working with natural light and an unobtrusive approach, I aim to portray people as they are, not how they perform in front of a camera. The result is honest, grounded portraiture that reflects both the person and the place that shapes their story.
This portrait was selected in the Top 10 from over 1,000 entries in the TAMRON 2026 Photo Competition, and was selected as a Top 25 finalist before receiving a Silver Award in the NZIPP/NZAPA Portrait Photography Awards.
